Tablets of the Divine

mono rust prints on paper ,beeswax, damar resin on cradled board 18"x18"x1,1/2"
It has been 100 years since the first of the "Tablets of the Divine Plan" was penned by 'Abdul-'Baha'. This piece was created in celebration.

a rusted gear used to make the center of the Sun, which shines through the book(tablet)

In this photo two layers of prints and encaustic medium have been painted on.

The third print and wax layer.

The fourth print... a written tablet with the sun prints shining through.

I am contemplating incising writing into the rusted lines of the tablet, but for now I'm leaving it as is. Also still deciding on which side is up, favoring the above photo at the moment. I would love to hear your thought on this!

"The Suffering" (see previous post)  and  Tablets of the Divine" were created for my art project for The Wilmette Institute course on "The Bahai Faith and the Arts".  To  learn more about Baha'u'llah and the Baha'i Faith you can go to http://www.bahai.org , or ask me:)
